A Question of Identity: A Simon Serrailler Mystery (Paperback)
A serial killer is targeting the residents of a senior housing project. His “signature” is distinctive, but his identity baffles DCI Simon Serrailler and his team. A workman in the housing project had been acquitted of an earlier series of murders on a legal technicality and was given a new identity. His retraining as an electrician and plumber has been particularly handy for stalking his elderly targets. This seventh in Man Booker Prize nominee Hill’s highly successful series is a tricky case for her talented DCI. It’s filled with twists and turns and, of course, romantic complexities and just the right touch of darkness Hill’s fans love. ~ Susan,— From Mystery Picks from Susan

The murderer has left a distinctive "sign" on the body and at the scene of the crime. A few weeks later, a similar murder occurs, and then another. Initial investigations discover that the mysterious sign was the calling card of a suspect who was charged with several murders in the northwest of the country, tried but acquitted on the grounds of insufficient evidence. Has he vanished, or is he right under their noses? Simon Serrailler is obliged to delve deeper and scratch out answers in this addictive mystery of surpassing darkness by the bestselling Susan Hill.
