Viesturs’ new book, co-authored with David Roberts, explores K2—the holy grail of climbing—its history, those who have attempted to climb it, and the lessons learned through confronting issues of risk, ambition, and loyalty to one’s teammates. Viesturs presents a slide show focussing on seven of the mountain’s most dramatic campaigns, from his own  troubled ascent to a 2008 tragedy in which eleven climbers died.
