No Ordinary Time: The Rise of Spiritual Intelligence and Evolutionary Creativity, by Jan Phillips These are no ordinary times. We are witnessing and participating in an evolutionary leap unlike anything in our history. There is evidence in the human family of an upward shift in consciousness, a maturing spirituality, a connectedness that grows more intimate and global by the day. And that uplift is countered by the dissolution of myths that no longer serve us, and the demise of institutions that have underpinned our culture since the beginning of our history. Our planetary worldview is refocusing and reframing as we awaken  to the reality of our utter interdependence. This book is a call to mindfulness, a reminder that evolutionary action is rooted in silence and stillness, as visionary ideas arise from spiritual practice. It is a book for people conscious of their power and ready to co-create new sacraments and ceremonies that celebrate the Divine that dwells within us. It is a handbook for people committed to justice, peacemaking and spiritual integrity who are eager to evolve themselves spiritually and creatively. While its form is taken from the medieval Book of Hours, its content stretches into the future—an ancient chalice for tomorrow’s wine. It is a guide to reclaiming your spiritual authority, rethinking your inherited beliefs so you can create a life that is prophetic, ecstatic and true to your soul. It bridges the One and the many, East and West, masculine and feminine, darkness and light through an array of stories, poems, prayers and songs. Jan Phillips is a visionary thought leader, award-winning author and dynamic speaker.  Her own quest has led her into and out of a religious community, across the U.S. on a Honda motorcycle, and around the world on a one-woman peace pilgrimage. Blending east and west, art and activism, reflection and ritual, Jan’s transformational presentations inspire consciousness and commitment. Jan teaches annually at the International Women’s Writing Guild Summer Conference and conducts workshops throughout the year. She has taught in over 23 countries and her work has appeared in the New York Times, Ms., Newsday, People, Christian Science Monitor, New Age Journal, National Catholic Reporter and Utne Reader. Marry Your Muse won the 1998 Ben Franklin Award presented by the Publishers Marketing Association and the 1998 Athena Award presented by Mentor/Protégé Magazine. Making Peace was placed on the recommended reading list for United Methodist Women. She is a co-founder of Syracuse Cultural Workers publishers and distributors of socially-conscious artwork, and was the editor of their Women Artists Datebook, In Praise of the Muse, for three years. She has won awards for outstanding writing and photography from the New York Press Association, the National Organization for Women, the National Catholic Press Association, the National Federation of Press Women, the National Religious Press Association and the Syracuse Press Club. As an artist/activist, Jan's commitment to spiritual healing and social justice resonates in her work and her workshops are vibrant with that passion and sensibility.
