GREENSCAPES: OLMSTED’S PACIFIC NORTHWEST
Island author Joan Hockaday
brings her inspiring expertise to a multi-media presentation on the
Northwest projects of landscape architect John Charles Olmsted, the
meticulous, visionary protégé of his famous stepfather, Frederick Law
Olmsted.
Charles employed the Olmsted aesthetic, with its belief that
pastoral spaces are integral to a healthy urban life, in creating works
that include premier park systems throughout the Pacific Northwest, a
multitude of Seattle boulevards, the UW campus, and the
Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition.
