Virginia Mason Presents: Unforgettable, with Emily Kaiser Thelin
The Center for Healthy Aging at Virginia Mason will host author Emily Kaiser Thelin for a presentation and book signing of her new book, Unforgettable: The Bold Flavors of Paula Wolfert's Renegade Life.
Thelin will be speaking at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art (BIMA) on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 3pm. To RSVP for this event, please call 206-341-0567.
The author is a writer/editor based in Berkeley, CA, a former restaurant cook, and a two-time James Beard finalist. She first met Wolfert, one of the world's most influential food explorers and cookbook writers, while at Food & Wine magazine, where she was the editor of Wolfert's Master Cook column. Wolfert is credited for bringing Mediterranean cooking to the U.S., and defining a whole style of food writing -- intense, immersive research with no comprises in recipes.
Thelin was one of the first people Wolfert told about her Alzheimer's diagnosis, which led to the book. It includes over 50 of Wolfert's signature dishes and explores the relationship between food, well-being, and memory.
