Join us for a very special family evening with author Kate DiCamillo, National Ambassador for Young People's Literature, at the Bainbridge High School Commons, Thursday, Feb. 26th, at 7pm.
DiCamillo, the award-winning author of such favorites at Flora & Ulysses, Because of Winn Dixie, The Tales of Despereaux, and Leroy Niker Saddles Up, was named Ambassador by the Library of Congress for 2014 - 2015. She is using this role to raise national awareness of the importance of young people's literature as it relates to literacy, education, and the betterment of lives -- young and old -- through stories that connect us.
"When we read together, we connect," says DiCamillo. "Together, we see the world. Together, we see each other."
The theme of hope and belief amid impossible circumstances in a common thread in her own stories, and they are well-beloved because of these themes. We know this will be an evening of magic for all who come to listen!
This West Sound Reads event is co-sponsored by independent bookstores in Kitsap County and the Kitsap Regional Library system. The event is free and open to the public. Customers who purchase DiCamillo's books in advance at Eagle Harbor Book Company or Liberty Bay Books in Poulsbo will recieve a ticket for two with priority seating and book signing.
