Used Books

A GUIDE TO OUR USED BOOKS

We offer fine used books for sale in our store alongside new copies. Used books enhance our store in many ways. They greatly strengthen the depth of some of our sections by adding books that are otherwise unavailable. In order to sell used books, we must buy used books. If you are interested in selling us some of your used books...read on. This is a great way to recycle those books you no longer need or use, and your books may be just the thing someone else is looking for.

HOW WE BUY
You can drop off books anytime but we will not decide what we can use at that time. We will sort through your books later and choose those we think we can sell. After two weeks, the cash or credit for the books we keep will be ready for you to pick up or use. If, in our research, we discover that a book is of significant value, we will contact you and give you the choice of selling it or not. Otherwise, books are priced and shelved shortly after the time of purchase; we do not wait for your "approval," nor do we keep an itemized list of which books we buy.
Any books that we cannot use will be donated to charity so that you do not need to pick them up.

WHAT WE PAY
We will pay you up to 25% in cash of the price at which we expect to sell the books, or you may choose to receive store credit for up to 35%.
If a book is worth more than its cover price, we will research the current value and price it accordingly.

WHAT WE BUY
We buy used books in very good condition in many subject areas. They should not have any underlining, highlighting or personal inscriptions, and if the book is hardcover, we usually require it to have a dust jacket, unless it was issued without one.

WHAT WE DON'T BUY
Although we are interested in stocking books for most of our subject areas, there are some books we don't buy, such as textbooks, encyclopedias, magazines, Reader's Digest Condensed books, romances, most hardback science fiction and hardback mysteries or thrillers, Westerns, cassette tapes & CDs, technical and computer books.

One last note: In the interest of space in our backroom, please limit the number of bags or boxes of books you bring in to us to two per week. Thank you!
