You can find us downstairs from the main store at 157 Winslow Way East. Hours are 10am to 6pm Monday-Saturday and 12pm to 5pm Sunday.
Now that the Annex is open, you have a great place to bring your used books and earn store credit usable both upstairs and downstairs! Whether you are downsizing, in the middle of a move, or have kids' books that aren't being read by your college-age children, we are eager to take a look at what you've got!
A GUIDE TO OUR USED BOOKS
We offer fine used books for sale in our Annex. Used books enhance our store in many ways. They greatly strengthen the depth of our inventory by adding books that are otherwise unavailable. In order to sell used books, we must buy used books. If you are interested in selling us some of your used books...read on. This is a great way to recycle those books you no longer need or use, and your books may be just the thing someone else is looking for.
HOW WE BUY
You can drop off books anytime from the 1st through 15th of every month, but we will not decide what we can use at that time. We will accept up to two grocery bags per visit. (No boxes, please!) We will sort through your books later and choose those we think we can sell. After two weeks, your trade credit will be available anytime you make a purchase in the store. If, in our research, we discover that a book is of significant value, we will contact you and give you the choice of selling it or not. Otherwise, books are priced and shelved shortly after the time of purchase; we do not wait for your "approval," nor do we keep an itemized list of which books we buy.
Any books that we cannot use will be donated to libraries or charity, so you do not need to pick them up.
WHAT WE PAY
We will pay you with store credit at 35% of the price at which we will sell the book. If a book is worth more than its cover price, we will research the current value and price it accordingly.
WHAT WE BUY
We buy used books in very good condition in many subject areas. They should not have any underlining, highlighting or personal inscriptions, and if the book is hardcover, we usually require it to have a dust jacket, unless it was issued without one. We buy books on an as needed basis for each section.
WHAT WE DON'T BUY
Although we are interested in stocking books for most of our subject areas, there are some books we don't buy, such as old, rare or valuable titles (we are not yet equipped to price these accurately), dated books such as travel guides and computer books, abridged books, most reference books (textbooks, college prep or study guides), cassettes and CDs, books with inscriptions, personal signatures or underlining, books that have liquid or food stains, and books that smell of mildew or other strong odors.
One last note: In the interest of space and processing time, please limit the number of bags of books you bring in to us to two per week. Thank you!
