A Year in Cookies
These cookies fight cancer!
Okay, maybe not in the way you're thinking. There is no scientific data to link the eating of these cookies to cancer prevention. However, all of the proceeds from sales of this book will be donated to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, in memory of Logan Wight.
Naomi Spinak, the author, began a 52-week quest to encourage the Wight family when four-year-old Logan was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Her method? A care package of homemade cookies every week. Though Logan eventually succumbed to the disease, Naomi has gathered her recipes in this collection to carry on the fight in his name.
Naomi's artful quilting presents a fresh way to illustrate cookbooks, and her delightful, witty prose makes this a fun book to simply read. Plus, her options for healthier and allergen-free cookies ensure that in this 52-recipe collection, there is a cookie for everyone. So go ahead: bake them, share them, and eat them! (After all, it's for a good cause.)
