Quite possibly the only thing pinker than the Barbie movie this summer is the cover of this book. Neither one disappoints. Emily Henry’s The Happy Place reads like a spicier version of Emily Giffin’s Something Borrowed (which was made into a movie starring Kate Hudson). In The Happy Place six college Besties reunite for an unforgettable trip to Sabrina’s Maine beach house. The weekend is not without drama. I enjoyed it every bit as much as Book Lovers. A fun, satisfying summer read. ~Gusty
This book covers all the things: love, loss, family, friendship. When I read the “I was wrong” chapter I laughed so hard I cried. My boys even came running to check on me. Reading Corrigan is like time spent with a dear friend, and you just don’t want it to end.
I love, love, love this book. My fellow foodies will absolutely delight in Ruth Reichl’s charming, entertaining, and hilarious account of her career as a restaurant critic for the New York Times. Grab your favorite beverage of choice and dig in! ~Gusty
